Sujata Gosalia

Gosalia wears a plethora of hats at Cox, and she manages to rock them all. In 2021 alone, her team launched edge-cloud computing service Cox Edge while also transforming the healthcare experience for Cox Business customers thanks to a partnership with Phunware. She managed it all while continually driving success at Cox Media, the company’s advertising division. It’ll be tough for Gosalia to bid Cox President Pat Esser, a longtime mentor of hers, adieu when he retires at year-end. “He epitomizes the actions that male allies can take—being a vocal champion for women, giving credit to women for the outcomes they drive, listening to women to understand their experiences, and mentoring women to help them advance,” she says.

Best advice for someone looking to re-enter the workforce after a hiatus?
All experiences, both in and outside the office, have enriched you to make you a better colleague and leader.  Remember what makes you a great candidate.  Keep your confidence up – you can do this!  And let your network help you along the way – you don’t have to do it all yourself.

Do you have an example of male allyship that made a difference to you?
I have so many.  So many of my mentors, sponsors and allies have been men – their support and counsel have been invaluable to me.  I would like to especially thank Pat Esser, who has been an outstanding ally for me during my time at Cox.  He epitomizes the actions that male allies can take – being a vocal champion for women, giving credit to women for the outcomes they drive, listening to women to understand their experiences, and mentoring women to help them advance.  I, like so many other women across our industry, have benefitted from his advocacy.
