Thanks to everyone who attended the Most Powerful Women Celebration Luncheon & Wine Tasting on Dec. 5 at 583 Park Avenue. Industry executives from across the country came together to celebrate the top women in the industry. Three women were honored with the inaugural Wake Makers Award, celebrating women who have created ripples of change, Patricia Jo Boyers, Dalilia Wilson-Scott and Jana WInograde. Keynote speaker Sara Haines, co-anchor of ABC’s daytime talk show “Strahan, Sara and Keke,” also hit on the importance of mentoring upcoming leaders.In partnership with The Long Island Wine Council, the event highlighted several of best local wineries. Capitol Hill is still talking about Boyers’ testimony over the summer on retransmission consent and life as a small operator in the “hills and hollers” of Missouri. During the course of a two-and-a-half hour House Commerce hearing, Boyers was able to drive home the hardship companies like hers face with plain language that moved the conversation beyond regulatory jargon and illustrated life for companies trying to help bridge the digital divide. As Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-CA) put it during the hearing, “I think you’re one hell of a witness.”

Under Wilson-Scott’s steadfast guidance, Comcast NBCUniversal has reached more than 9.5 million people, since 2011, with its digital literacy initiatives, working to bridge the digital divide and increase technology adoption and skills. She has also overseen the growth of Comcast Cares Day to a record 120,000 volunteers at 1,450 projects in 23 countries in 2019. Comcast NBCUniversal even surpassed its goal of 500,000 green volunteer hours a year ahead of schedule.
Winograde earned a big promotion this year that put her in charge of all aspects of Showtime Networks’ programming, with the savvy exec sharing the co-president role with Gary Levine. She’s kept the premium service’s momentum going amid what could have been a distracting year. With tons of early buzz for “The L Word: Generation Q” and strong fan bases for established series, such as “Billions,” Winograde and the Showtime team will continue develop a diverse slate of timely content for the network.
