Zenita Henderson

Henderson builds relationships and drives business for operators, vendors, and individual members. She’s led marketing efforts for the organization’s Adaptive Power Challenge, and developed new partnerships and programs ahead of the big SCTE-ISBE 50th anniversary celebration in New Orleans. “I’ve been fortunate to work at an organization that gives women the tools they need to grow their careers, grooms them for senior level positions and encourages the advancement of women internally and throughout the industry,” she says.

What specifically does your company do to support and elevate the women who work there?
I’ve been fortunate to work at an organization that gives women the tools they need to grow their careers, grooms them for senior level positions and encourages the advancement of women internally and throughout the industry via mentoring programs, SCTE Foundation programs and partnerships with WICT and other organizations.

How can the industry do a better job of recruiting women and ensuring they have a path to senior positions?
Promote their career opportunities in publications and associations targeted to women. Provide immediate opportunities for mentoring opportunities with senior leaders in their company (male and female).

What advice would you give your 13-year-old self?
Speak up!

Which current shows best reflect the kind of women’s roles you like to see and why?
“Law and Order: SVU.” Olivia’s character shows you can be strong, a great boss, empathetic, a Mom, have an extremely demanding job and still have a life.
