Keeping current on the telecom industry’s always-changing national security and supply chain policies is already a full-time job, but Philpott also sits on NAMIC’s national board of directors and mentors several people through Cox’s internal programs. “For Cox mentoring programs, employees are encouraged to pair with someone different from ourselves which creates a unique opportunity to develop relationships with others whom we may not have otherwise encountered,” she says.

What does your company/organization do to ensure all employees feel included?
Our Employee Resource Groups are exciting, inclusive, diverse and embraced by the most senior leaders of the organization.

How can diversity be better incorporated into the recruiting process?
By tapping into culturally diverse organizations to ensure the best opportunity for diverse applicants such as Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Latina, Asian, LGBT and other diverse student, community, and professional groups.
