Philpott worked tirelessly during the last year to lead policy advocacy and counsel related to the implementation of the FCC’s Restoring Internet Freedom order. Together with her team, she helped Cox launch a network transformation ensuring seamless customer notification, government approvals and internal collaboration throughout the enterprise. She recently completed her third term as Atlanta co-chair of the Federal Communications Bar Assn. For someone just entering the industry, Philpott recommends they “get to know as many people as you can from different backgrounds, ethnicities, locations and disciplines.”

In what areas should the industry step up its efforts with regard to diversity and inclusion?
Continuous, intentional, and programmatic development of a pipeline of diverse talent groomed for the C-suite level of leadership.

What’s your best advice to someone just entering the video content/distribution industry?
Get to know as many people as you can from different backgrounds, ethnicities, locations and disciplines.

What’s been the most dramatic change in your sector of the business today vs. three years ago?
Merger mania—MSO with MSO, ILEC with programmer, telco with CLEC, broadcaster with broadcaster and the associated soap opera of fits and starts with each unfolding transaction.
