Distribution models are ever evolving, and expert negotiator Fang ensures Fox is in step with them all—a key reason in March she expanded her purview to include oversight of the company’s distribution marketing function in addition to continuing her long-standing role as the lead on its distributor relationships and renewals. This year, she successfully negotiated several new carriage deals for the company’s portfolio of brands, as well as VOD, online content and emerging platforms. Looking back at her life, she wishes she could have told her teenage self, “Don’t hide in the back of class. Nobody can see that your hand is raised.”
What specifically does your company do to support and elevate the women who work there?
One example is Women of Fox Sports, an employee-led organization created to empower and educate the women who work in a male dominated industry by providing them with networking opportunities and insight into the rest of the company.
What advice would you give your 13-year-old self?
Don’t hide in the back of class. Nobody can see that your hand is raised.
Which current shows best reflect the kind of women’s roles you like to see and why?
I like the women on “9-1-1.” They are diverse, complex, strong and most of all, they have such a good sense of who they are.
