Kalle has been busy leading Starz’s international expansion since she was tapped for the role in May 2018. She has full P&L responsibility for the division, and aims to bring the Starzplay SVOD service into every country in the world. In the past year, the service already has launched in more than 40 countries. “The industry should do a better job of teaching all genders about unconscious bias. It will help in recruiting as well as promoting women,” she says.
What specifically does your company do to support and elevate the women who work there?
Lionsgate has a resource group called Lionsgate’s Women’s Empowerment Group that host panels, meetings and provides resources for our female employees It’s a great organization that brings together women at all levels and the events are attended by both men and women which increases its impact.
How can the industry do a better job of recruiting women and ensuring they have a path to senior positions?

What advice would you give your 13-year-old self?
I’d tell her that all the hours of studying and listening to music would pay off in different ways! I’d tell her that my experience as an immigrant will only make me stronger. I’d tell her, incredibly, that scrunchies are back!
