“The sheer amount of diverse scripted and documentary content that is available on a host of different platforms is the most I can ever recall. The array of different perspectives I’ve seen is truly living up to the goal of diversity, and that is inclusion,” says Simmons, who’s laser-focused on building a culture of employee commitment based on optimizing the work environment and empowering employees. Of late, she launched a new performance management system aimed at increasing the frequency of performance discussions, executed on an employee engagement improvement plan and launched employee resource groups that contributed to measurable improvement in diversity and inclusion workforce goals.

And, diverse talent is being highlighted in roles they’ve never been featured in previously. The array of different perspectives I’ve seen is truly living up to the goal of diversity, and that is inclusion.

In what areas should the industry step up its efforts with regard to diversity and inclusion?
We continue to have opportunities for more diverse and inclusive “C-Suite” leadership and Board representation in the industry.
