Marianne Gambelli

Gambelli has headed up all linear and nonlinear sales across Fox’s portfolio of brands since March 2019 following the spinoff of Fox Corp by 21st Century Fox. Since taking over, she’s restructured Fox’s ad sales organization around three verticals: Entertainment, Sports and News, and led the advertising portion of Fox’s program development and sports roadshow, not to mention its upfront presentation. This year, she got to enter the AVOD space through Fox’s acquisition of Tubi, opening up a whole new audience. “The focus for gender inclusiveness needs to incorporate all employees within an organization and for everyone to embrace it in order to achieve our collective goal of equality in the workplace,” she says.

What is one of your proudest moments during the pandemic? During the early days, we were a first mover in the marketplace and pivoted swiftly to arrange customized virtual meetings in March with our ad partners. I was proud we were able to work with every partner who needed flexibility.

How has your leadership style changed during the pandemic? We have all been required to develop new blueprints in real time and that includes how we collaborate and communicate with one another. During this period, our team continues to be incredibly effective working remotely, but our professional and personal lives have collided and are integrated more than ever. Collectively, we have all learned from one another during this time and that has allowed us to holistically lead and manage in new and effective ways. As a result, we are experiencing a more productive and engaged culture within our division and that has allowed our staff to effectively manage a healthy work/life balance.

What is the biggest factor needed to eliminate gender inequality in the workplace? If we are going to make sustainable change, we need to be transparent and have an open dialogue around the gender salary gap, recruitment, career opportunities, and addressing the perception that exists between male and female employees on gender inequality within the workplace. The focus for gender inclusiveness needs to incorporate all employees within an organization and for everyone to embrace it in order to achieve our collective goal of equality in the workplace.
