Jane Rice

Rice’s legendary negotiation skills come from her natural affinity for others and her desire to create business deals that deliver beneficial outcomes to everyone involved. She’s also a member of WICT’s global board of directors. “I’m extremely proud of all of the work the organization has done to encourage women to pursue careers in STEM,” she says. “Through their many programs and awards they are making terrific strides to close the technology gap.”

What are your thoughts on the industry’s current response to the Me Too movement, and its treatment of men who have been accused of sexual harassing and/or assaulting women and men? Are there other steps you feel should be taken?
These conversations are long overdue and it’s devastating to think about how many lives and careers have been impacted by fear and intimidation. I’m encouraged by the Me Too movement and all that it is doing to shed light on sexual harassment. All companies need to enforce zero tolerance policies for this behavior.

What’s a recent example of a step forward for women in the media industry?
I sit on WICT’s Global Board of Directors and I’m extremely proud of all of the work the organization has done to encourage women to pursue careers in STEM. Through their many programs and awards they are making terrific strides to close the technology gap.

Who is an inspirational woman you admire, and why?
I’m inspired by Abbe Raven, acting chairman A+E Networks, and all that she continues to do to mentor and support women in our industry and beyond. Abbe not only shattered glass ceilings in her own career but continues to help women have the confidence and support system to reach their own career goals. We need more Abbe Ravens in our business!
