Jane Latman

Latman is respected and trusted among her peers and mentees alike, and people listen when she suggests trying something new. Her fresh approach to developing and greenlighting home and design shows has resulted in a pipeline of high-impact content for HGTV and discovery+ (including “Celebrity IOU,” “Home Town Takeover” and “Frozen in Time”) that has made HGTV a top-rated cable network across multiple demographics. Latman, who makes DEI a priority on and off screen, advises people returning to the workplace after a significant absence not to sweat it: “When you know you’re the right person for the job, project that confidence and talk about your experience because that’s what matters, not that you took some time away.”

Best advice for someone looking to re-enter the workforce after a hiatus?
Turn it into a positive—you’re coming back with all the renewed energy, enthusiasm and drive, plus learnings that you’ve picked up in your time away. When you know you’re the right person for the job, project that confidence and talk about your experience because that’s what matters, not that you took some time away.

What one female empowerment book do you think every woman should read?
I find “I Am Malala” inspiring and motivating on so many levels. She is fearless, passionate, full of conviction and has a great sense of humor. She’s someone we can all learn from.
