Monroe heads one of only five brands featured on Disney+. It’s there for good reason, with Nat Geo pulling in nine Emmy noms in 2020 and snagging its first Oscar last year. Monroe has launched the National Geographic Field Ready program for new diverse talent who want to work behind the camera. “Ironically, I feel closer to my team than I ever have, despite not being physically together for 8 months,” she says.

What is one of your proudest moments during the pandemic? In a span of just 24 hours, my team put 77 global productions on hiatus with military-like precision, without complaint, while working from home.

If you were a teenager attending virtual classes right now, what advice would you give yourself? Pay attention on zoom and don’t online shop like I’ve caught my own teenage daughter doing during class!

How has your leadership style changed during the pandemic? Ironically, I feel closer to my team than I ever have, despite not being physically together for 8 months. Over the course of the pandemic, I’ve spent more time connecting with folks across my team in smaller settings, and it’s these moments that I value when it comes to keeping our team strong, connected and motivated.
