Charlotte Field

This newly inducted Cable TV Pioneer knows her way around a network, overseeing provisioning, email/portals, OSS, network security, and data and implementation centers across Charter. Field’s storied career spans both the telco industry and cable, including stints at AT&T and Comcast, and even included HR at one point. An engineer at heart, she’s impressed and inspired by the constant change. “The large-scale adoption of content delivery on mobile platforms by the cable operators is super exciting, especially with the advent of 5G technology,” she says.

Who is an inspirational woman you admire, and why?
Amelia Earhart. I love her quote: “Women must try to do things as men have tried. When they fail, their failure must be a challenge to others.” She was a leader who supported other women who attempted careers in aviation as she did. She recognized that as a woman there was no limit to what she could do and was lucky enough to have a cadre of friends who supported her as well. I have also been lucky enough to have a host of men and women (beginning with my mother and father) who said “you can do whatever you want to.” And I have.

What’s been the most dramatic change in your sector of the business today vs. three years ago?
The large scale adoption of content delivery on mobile platforms by the cable operators is super exciting, especially with the advent of 5G technology.

If there were a reality show based on your office, what would it be called?
It would be called “Change, Change Changing!” Nothing stays the same in this industry and you must constantly change to keep learning and achieving.
