Last year Hoffman led STARZ through its first-ever price increase since launching as a standalone company in 2016. And since 2023 was the year of bundling, she also oversaw a bundle with MGM on Amazon Prime, a new AMC+ deal with Amazon and multiple offerings with Verizon and Netflix. Beyond that, she has been integral in guiding the #TakeTheLead initiative to serve content to women and underrepresented audiences.
Biggest takeaway from the Hollywood strikes? It was a reminder that sometimes difficult situations can lead to creative solutions and interesting outcomes. Knowing we would have some production delays, we decided to make some strategic acquisitions to supplement our schedule. The result is an unexpected and exciting programming slate for 2024, which is a mix of our own incredible series and some exceptional acquired shows.
Do you still have a traditional cable video package? Yes, I have everything—traditional cable and all the streaming apps, including a few bundles. I am a movie and television addict, so I require total access!
Business speak phrase or buzzword I find most annoying: I’m not a fan of the word “content” as a catch-all for film and television. That word just doesn’t do justice to the artistry and talent it takes to write, produce, deliver and promote the incredible stories we tell to audiences around the world.
Favorite way to destress? I’m a little late to the game, but I really love the podcast “Normal Gossip.” Every episode the host, Kelsey McKinney, shares a delicious morsel of gossip in a way that’s funny, surprising and never mean-spirited. Always decreases my cortisol levels and makes me laugh.
