Our Take:

Snapchat has added a new search feature dubbed Story Explorer that allows users to search for additional videos that are similar to the snaps curated in the platform’s Live Story events, Variety reports. The Live Story feature is one of the ways in which Snapchat monetizes its content through advertising. It curates a series of snaps centered around a specific live event, like a music festival or sports event, that are available for 24 hours. Now (first in LA and NY), users can search for other videos related to those in the Live Story.

Snapchat reached four billion daily video views in September, and it continues to invent new ways such as this to increase video views. The NFL recently partnered with Snapchat to create weekly Live Stories for specific games on a weekly basis and opened it up for branded advertising, and MTV did a Live Story for the VMAs. Additionally, many media brands, like Fusion, Comedy Central and CNN, have created original programming on the platform.

Snapchat just made it easier for users to find clips their peers shot of a news event: A new feature dubbed “Story Explorer” makes it possible to find additional footage around the clips that Snapchat ‘s team has curated for one of the service’s stories.
