Speller is a dedicated advocate for DEI and as the head of innovation and technology, he prioritizes connecting people. Serving as the lead technologist for the Comcast Central Division, he ensures that his teams have access to various events and platforms, empowering employees to participate in external programs and provide feedback to improve the overall experience. Speller also is an advisor and supporter of charitable organizations, giving back to community programs and providing young individuals with opportunities to pursue success.
What advice would you give a recent graduate? You need to be bold and take calculated risks. If you want to grow and get to a place you did not think was possible, you need to step out of your comfort zone. We perform at our absolute best when we do this.
Will AI help or hurt diversity and inclusion? When used to help simplify our jobs, it absolutely helps. For example, here at Comcast, AI is helping us to avoid or solve problems faster. This allows our technicians to spend time on the things that are most important to customers. AI is truly helping to drive a better customer and employee experience.
What is your boldest prediction about your industry in the next 10 years? Almost every tool and platform we operate will use AI as an engine to drive a better product and customer experience. The days of people fearing AI will be gone and the days of championing the next AI invention will be here.
