Mills prides himself in leading the world’s largest media company dedicated to the Black community. When there was talk about Paramount Global spinning off BET Media, Mills was reported to be among the interested potential buyers. He received this year’s T. Howard Foundation’s Executive Leadership Award and tackled the current war on diversity head-on. He pointed to the success of BET, which turns 45 next year. “We’ve been growing share, growing property, growing reach, generating double-digit revenue growth. And all of that is anchored in one thing—our focus on diversity—the diversity of our workforce, the diversity of our leadership team, the diversity of our partners, the diversity of our culture, the diversity of our community.”
