“A female character who would do well in this industry is Teresa Mendoza from ‘La Reina del Sur’ (Queen of the South). She is a fighter, always dealing with change and a little bit crazy.”

How has work changed for women in corporate America over the last 10 years? A lot of progress at the surface and an inch deep of progress is how I would describe it. Most companies nowadays pride themselves on equality and many have instituted meaningful programs to advance women’s success. But look at the people at the top, how and by who decisions are being made, and I would argue it’s the same and a ton of work still lays ahead of us.

What’s the toughest part about being a leader in the industry? Communicating change effectively, directly, and compassionately.
