Pragash Pillai

Pillai has long taken a digital-first approach to customer care across Altice USA’s footprint, which proved to be beneficial during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks to Pillai’s efforts, Altice customers could optimize customer care experiences without leaving their homes due to 24/7 online chat tools and troubleshooting options. Outside of Altice, Pillai serves on the board of directors of NAMIC and has been awarded a patent for a proactive network performance tool. “Companies should commit to ensuring D&I talent development and hiring is a priority, as well as create an open and healthy workplace environment for D&I discussions and ideas to be cultivated,” he says.

The conversation about racial injustice in 2020 has been… a journey that brings people together to openly discuss issues and learn how we, as society, can do better to support our colleagues and neighbors.

In what ways can companies best show a sincere commitment to diversity and inclusion? Companies should commit to ensuring D&I talent development and hiring is a priority, as well as create an open and healthy workplace environment for D&I discussions and ideas to be cultivated. Additionally, companies should provide support to employees – either financially or through resources that focus on D&I programs and topics, like mentoring and fireside chats.

What are some of the tough conversations this industry needs to have? In our industry, significant progress can be made towards improving diversity and inclusion for management development and hiring. We have made some progress over the years, but we can strive for further progress in these areas.
