A jewel in the Crown exec ranks, Vicary was a force in expanding Hallmark Drama to nearly 20 million homes. But that’s not all. In addition to spearheading the first original content to hit the company’s subscription streaming on-demand service, she oversaw the execution of the 10th Anniversary of Hallmark Channel’s “Countdown to Christmas.” Vicary proudly says, “Hallmark has made a conscious effort not only to write and cast strong female leads in front of the camera, but has made significant gains behind the camera.”
What specifically does your company do to support and elevate the women who work there?
Hallmark has made a conscious effort not only to write and cast strong female leads in front of the camera, but has made significant gains behind the camera. Nearly 50% of our writers and producers are women, and we are constantly expanding our pool of female directors. On the network side, we have women in key leadership positions in every department from programming and communication, to distribution and ad sales.
How can the industry do a better job of recruiting women and ensuring they have a path to senior positions?
This a rhetorical question, right?
What advice would you give your 13-year-old self?
Listen to the voice in your head. It’s your intuition learning to speak. And don’t watch scary movies before bed.
