Michelle Vicary

Vicary played a key role in the launch of and programming strategy for the latest Crown jewel—Hallmark Drama, and subscription streaming on-demand service, Hallmark Movies Now. Additionally, she developed Hallmark Channel’s newest annual special, “American Rescue Dog Show,” which is part of the network’s pet adoption advocacy initiative. In its first year, the program out-performed the country’s longest-running dog show, “Westminster.” Vicary’s team also took on Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries’ most expansive slates of new original programming to-date, including 90 new movies. She says the biggest change in the programming sector “has been the continued growth of viewers who are desperate for programming that is positive and makes them feel better about life. We are doing our best to keep up!”

Who is an inspirational woman you admire, and why?
Margaret Loesch has been an inspiration to me since the day I was fortunate enough to meet and work for her. She is brilliant, strategic, demanding of excellence, generous, and the world is better because of Margaret. Also, my 16-year-old daughter Hannah—she is both fierce and kind, and a little scary!

What’s been the most dramatic change in your sector of the business today vs. three years ago?
The biggest change in our sector has been the continued growth of viewers who are desperate for programming that is positive and makes them feel better about life. We are doing our best to keep up!

If there were a reality show based on your office, what would it be called?
“Christmas! Christmas! Christmas!”
