Lisa Schwartz

Schwartz was instrumental in the May launch of IFC Films Unlimited, the new SVOD service comprising titles from IFC Films, Sundance Selects and IFC Midnight. Under her leadership, the company distributes more than 100 films each year. She says that in order to recruit more women to the industry, make sure more women hold key positions. “Those women will inspire others to work to achieve similar roles and help mentor them along,” she says.

How can the industry do a better job of recruiting women and ensuring they have a path to senior positions?
Insure more women hold key senior positions, including the C-Suite. Those women will inspire others to work to achieve similar roles and help mentor them along.

What advice would you give your 13-year-old self?
Relax… You’ll be fine

Which current shows best reflect the kind of women’s roles you like to see and why?
“Killing Eve”—Villanelle is flawed but frightfully fearless; “The Goldbergs”—Beverly Goldberg is flawed but fiercely family focused; and “Fleabag”—she’s flawed but fantastically funny.
