MTV Entertainment Studios’ BIPOC- and women-focused First Director program is just one of the ways Neumeyer develops authentic storytelling that reshapes existing narratives. And she’s got a screenwriting program in the works that’s poised to amplify new voices. She fights gender bias on air and off through programming choices and her work with culture orientation training.

“My most impactful work decision was to leave a career as a doctor in Argentina and immigrate to the U.S. to attend film school. That was followed by a career in TV, and I haven’t looked back.”

What should companies do to ensure more women are in senior leadership roles? Having women bosses is the only way to guarantee more women in senior roles. Women pull each other up in the ladder so it’s important to hire as many women as possible in any role. It also is essential that companies offer better child care plans and flexible schedules to be able to thrive at work without compromising their desires to have a healthy family life.

Advice on embracing change: Rejection is redirection. Don’t dwell on the mistakes or failures, they will take you to your next thing.

Favorite hobby: Reading fiction. Sometimes we all need to escape to a fictional world to escape the grind.
