The Why? A champion for underrepresented talent, Mau joined NBCU in 2021 to lead comprehensive DEI efforts across the entertainment television portfolio on seven linear networks, one streaming service and four TV studios. During her career, she has opened the doors for diverse writers, directors and below-the-line talent and she’s focused on removing their historical barrier to entry and advancement.
She Says… “The people who occupied DEI roles before me kicked down doors so I now have the opportunity to have a seat at the table.”
First event I attended IRL when live reopened: “A Strange Loop” on Broadway
What TV series or movie inspires you? We Are Lady Parts. Bold and unapologetically fearless. I love the sisterhood. This show is so funny, smart and most of all courageous.
Who has kicked down a door for you? The people who occupied DEI roles before me kicked down doors so I now have the opportunity to have a seat at the table. They are the ones who convinced leaders that equity and inclusion is not only the right thing to do, but that it’s also good for business. My role wouldn’t exist if not for those that paved the way before me.
First event attended IRL when live reopened? A Strange Loop on Broadway in June this year. Wow. Complex, vulnerable and so funny. I went in not knowing what to expect, and I walked out wanting to see it again.
