Jay Francis

The Why? With Francis’ oversight, the Disney TV Animation Writing Program has helped place more than 30 junior writers from underrepresented groups into Disney TV Animation jobs for more than three years. Francis recently added a monthly writing lab where writers are tasked to dive deeper into their content, as well as one-on-one mentorship through which writers meet with editors, executive producers or others to fine-tune their skills.

He Says… “Over the past few years, I can’t count how many inquires I’ve received from animation writers, artists and studios from Nigeria. I probably should see for myself what’s happening over there.”

First event attended IRL when live reopened? San Diego Comic-Con. Enjoyed the sights and sounds of the convention and San Diego was probably the only place in the U.S. that wasn’t pushing 110 degrees!

Bucket list travel destination? Over the past few years, I can’t count how many inquires I’ve received from animation writers, artists, and studios from Nigeria. I probably should see for myself what’s happening over there.

Organizations I’m proud to support? Rise Up Animation and Black ‘N Animated are two organizations dedicated and committed to the goal of helping diverse talent enter the animation industry.
