McIlvain successfully propelled the company’s business development efforts, including its third linear network, Hallmark Drama, which has nearly doubled its reach and is now in nearly 20 million homes. In the upcoming year, McIlvain will be a key player the monetization of Crown Media Family Networks’ new family-friendly destinations. “I am proud to work for a company where many of the SVP and EVP positions are filled with women,” McIlvain says. “This alone creates a culture of support and opportunity.”
What specifically does your company do to support and elevate the women who work there?
I am proud to work for a company where many of the SVP and EVP positions are filled with women. This alone creates a culture of support and opportunity.
How can the industry do a better job of recruiting women and ensuring they have a path to senior positions?
I actually think the media industry does a pretty good job, probably more so than other industries. Organizations like WICT, programs like Betsy Magness, really provide a great resource and a lot of lessons on leadership and ways to further your career. I think the path to senior positions certainly exists. Seems we’ve fallen a bit short with promoting women to the next level – CEOs, board seats, etc.
