Debra Sharon Davis

Davis works to help her cable clients create new business models for mobile and other digital platforms. Both distributors and networks alike are keen to connect with Gen Z and millennial audiences, and Davis is particularly adept at helping them engage with these coveted demos. She also strategizes with companies to help them deliver connectivity to untapped international territories, including parts of Africa and other regions. Looking ahead to 2018, “The central topic that will permeate all areas will be how do we monetize opportunities across all related industries to capture audiences by integrating the wealth of multiplatforms,” she says.

What industry topic do you think will dominate industry headlines in 2018 and why?
The central topic that will permeate all areas will be how do we monetize opportunities across all related industries to capture audiences by integrating the wealth of mulitplatforms. Anticipating and implementing in far-reaching but practical ways.  How can we develop strategies that build strategic alliances with companies like Twitter, Facebook, Google, Instagram, Snapchat and brands to new heights in a way that supports networks, OTT, cable operators, mobile, advertisers – all the players. It will be a year that demands we be Merlin-like – seeing the landscape finished and what is possible that will prove a game-changer. The best is yet to be imagined.

What famous woman, living or deceased, would you like to have dinner with?
Oprah Winfrey has always been a hero for me. Her impact is and continues to be far-reaching. She has and continues to be a mentor to so many both professionally and to those who have learned from her as an example of grace, dignity and strength.  Years ago, I had the privilege of giving her a humanitarian award for being the first to caption a syndicated talk show – her talk show. She accepted the award, but did not want press or outward recognition which resonated with me. She continues to be the moral compass that we so need today.

Best advice for relieving stress?
Be authentic. Remain true to oneself. Look at the world with gratitude. Be loyal to the companies with whom you work. Surround yourself with people you admire and learn from them. Do what you say you are going to do.
