With the upcoming launch of streaming service Peacock, she’s shifting back over to the development side to run Universal Television and Universal Content Productions—the second major change to sweep NBCU this year. Hammer is firmly entrenched at the programmer. She’s renewed her contract, taking her into her early 70s, making her the longest-reigning female television exec in the industry’s history. She oversees nearly 1,500 employees, and under her purview more than 100 million viewers check out NBCU nets each week. Under her leadership, USA was the most-watched entertainment cable entertainment channel for 13 consecutive years. She keeps busy outside of work serving on the Board of Directors of eBay and IAC/InteractiveCorp, as well as the Board of Governors for the MPTF Foundation and the strategic planning committee for Boston University’s College of Communication.
