Andrea Greenberg

Greenberg had more than three decades of experience managing and growing sports and other media businesses. Both she and MSG Nets, over which she’s been presiding for four years, are riding high this fall as the country’s first regional sports network celebrates its 50th anniversary with special programming, including legendary Knicks and Rangers games, one from each decade since the network has been on-air, and short-form videos that link sports with food, music, fashion and other cultural elements. “I believe this needs to be a management-led initiative that focuses on inclusive recruiting and specific women-focused mentoring,” Greenberg says of ways the industry can elevate its support of women.

How can the industry do a better job of recruiting women and ensuring they have a path to senior positions?
I believe this needs to be a management-led initiative that focuses on inclusive recruiting and specific women-focused mentoring.

What advice would you give your 13-year-old self?
I would tell my 13-year-old self to always raise her hand, be curious and ask questions and enjoy the ride.

Which current shows best reflect the kind of women’s roles you like to see and why?
There have been many compelling female-led programs this year, but I’m most excited about the accomplishments of the women behind the scenes who are creating the programming (like Ava DuVernay, Patty Jenkins and Mindy Kaling).
