Sales Person of the Year (VP and Above):

Outstanding sales executives, VPs and above, in all areas of cable ad sales, including national cable sales, local ad sales, regional ad sales, web sales, VOD and mobile. Both cable operator and programmer sales executives are eligible.

Sales Person of the Year (Below the VP Level):

Outstanding sales Account Executives, Directors, Managers in all areas of cable ad sales, including national cable sales, local ad sales, regional ad sales, web sales, VOD and mobile. Both cable operator and programmer sales executives are eligible.

Sales Team of the Year:

Honoring a team of at least two salespeople and one team leader.

Most Creative Sales Pitch:

Have you and your sales or affiliate sales team zigged when others have zagged? Have you gone beyond traditional boundaries to win business? Then this is the category for you and your team. We're looking for the most innovative packages and most clever approaches to capture new business or grow existing business. Please include specific details of ideas and pitches involved.

Rookie Sales Person of the Year:

We'll honor salespeople who are relatively new to cable sales and affiliate sales (2 years or fewer in cable sales) who've risen to success quickly.

Affiliate Sales Person of the Year (VP and Above):

An honor to recognize affiliate sales and marketing efforts that produced extraordinary results. This includes deal-making for network carriage, relationship building and maintenance, effective brand management and advocacy, and creative entertainment, education and networking events designed to sustain good relationships with affiliates.

Affiliate Sales Person of the Year (Below the VP Level):

An honor to recognize affiliate sales and marketing efforts that produced extraordinary results. This includes deal-making for network carriage, relationship building and maintenance, effective brand management and advocacy, and creative entertainment, education and networking events designed to sustain good relationships with affiliates.

CableFAX Sales Hall of Fame:

A Hall of Fame award is bestowed upon an executive who has grown through the sales ranks to the level of President, VP, Director, etc; one whose name speaks to his or her excellent reputation in driving revenue and relationships; who has earned the respect of his or her peers in and outside of the cable community. Hall of Fame nominees should demonstrate a career of sales success. (Open to current and retired executives in all areas of cable sales).

Who Should Enter:

This awards program is open to cable sales and business development executives, account managers, advertising executives, team leaders and team members whose primary responsibility is to sell advertising, sponsorship, and affiliate programs for cable programming networks, MSOs and cable operators, and ad agencies either for linear, online, mobile, or VOD. It is open to all sales/business development job titles - from Account Manager and Sales Director to Senior Vice President to President.

  • The awards are open to any cable professional who is involved at least part-time in sales or sales management.
  • Outside contract sales executives are eligible.
  • The awards are open to sales executives at media companies worldwide, as the criteria for sales excellence is universal.
  • Self-nominations are accepted.
  • All entries will be treated with the strictest confidence.

Eligibility Period:

To be eligible, the entry/campaign initiative must have taken place (either in part or in full) between Jan. 2013 and Feb. 2014. Some of the work must have occurred during this time, but it’s not necessary for it to be completed during the eligibility period.

Recognition:

CableFAX Sales Executives of the Year will receive
  • Award
  • Recognition at an awards breakfast in June 2014 in New York City

Please fill out the entry form with your contact information. Along with your entry form, please provide a two-page synopsis with the following information listed:

  • Category entered
  • Title of entry (as it would appear on your award)
  • Person or team members entering
  • Key contact for entry
  • Organization submitting entry
  • Budget (All budget information is strictly confidential and will not be published w/o expressed permission.)

Synopsis should include:

  • Areas of Responsibility
  • Specific Sales or Sales Leadership Successes, including metrics if possible
  • Sales or Leadership Hurdles/Challenges Overcome
  • Description of your Best Client Relationships
  • Testimonials and References, if you have them
  • For Hall of Fame, describe nominee’s contributions to cable sales over his/her career
  • Supporting materials as necessary

When sending the paper entry form, please include:

Entry Fees:
The price of each entry is $325. If you submit the same entry into multiple categories, the additional fee is $215 per entry. There is a late payment surcharge of $215 per entry. Payment in full must accompany the entry. Entry fees are not refundable.

How are the entries judged?
Entries are judged by Cable industry executives, as well as by the staff of CableFAX Daily and CableFAX: The Magazine. We evaluate your entry based on the criteria listed in this awards program, including above par sales performance for the year, strong leadership skills and the ability to close deals.

Who is eligible to win an award?
The CableFAX Sales Executive of the Year Awards are open to cable sales and business development executives, account managers, advertising executives, team leaders and team members whose primary responsibility is to sell national or local advertising, sponsorships, and affiliate programs for cable networks and cable operators, ad ad agencies either for linear, online, mobile, HD or VOD. It is open to all sales/business development job titles - from Account Manager and Sales Director to Senior Vice President to President.

Where and when will the reception be held?
The winners and honorable mentions will receive their CableFAX Sales Executive of the Year Award during an awards event in June 2014 in New York City.

How do I increase my chances of winning an award?
Provide a succinct summary, video clips, testimonials and other supporting material as necessary, including specifics on sales growth, deals signed & measurable metrics.

When will I be notified about the status of my entry?
You will be contacted by CableFAX staff regarding the status of your entry only if you are named a finalist. Finalists are notified 30-60 days in advance of the CableFAX Sales Executive of the Year Awards Breakfast.

Is this awards program affiliated with any industry organizations?
The CableFax Sales Executive of the Year Awards program is an independent competition unaffiliated with any other cable organization. Your entries are held in strict confidence by the judges and CableFax.
