Smith heads the Cable Operations practice group in the Cable Law Department, counseling in advertising and marketing, purchasing and procurement, commercial business services, new products, and general operations and facilities. A graduate of both Brown University and Harvard Law School, Smith was previously SVP & General Counsel of Broadnet Europe Sprl, a foreign operating subsidiary of Comcast.

Best business advice you’ve received?

“Don’t look back.”  You should always learn from the past – successes and failures – but only for purposes of better preparing yourself for what’s to come.  And never feel tied to past decisions that are no longer applicable or appropriate.

How can cable better support diversity?

A concerted effort must be made to diversify at senior levels of organizations, and to provide mentors to all employees.
