In June, Selvaretnam brought in big numbers overseeing the first-of-its-kind multiplatform Skywire Live experience when Nik Wallenda traversed the Grand Canyon on a tightrope. The programming generated record ratings—2.1 million in digital streams and 1.3 million tweets. He continues to cultivate Discovery’s social media strategy and award-winning team, building on Discovery’s leadership position in social innovation, engagement, and reach. “The biggest story in cable this year is the correlative and causal relationship between social and TV,” he says. “Viewers are defining their own prime time.”
