High-definition ad distribution has spiked 150 percent since 2Q10, attributed in part to the uptake of cloud computing, says Extreme Reach Inc. In 2Q12, 25 percent of ads delivered to TV media outlets were HD, and the cloud enabled TV advertisers to deliver an average of 98.5 percent of their SD and HD ads digitally. Extreme Reach data also found widespread acceptance of HD advertising in sports venues…The mobile broadband tablet market is heating up, prepping to add 150 million new data subscriptions in the next five years, notes Strategy Analytics; by the end of 2017, tablet subscriptions will reach 172 million worldwide. Comments Susan Welsh de Grimaldo, director/Mobile Broadband Opportunities, “Service revenues from tablets will be an important incremental growth source for mobile operators, with global tablet service revenues reaching US$15 billion in 2017. Multi-device shared data plans and 4G LTE are key drivers for tablet subscriptions.” Mobile data traffic from tablets is predicted to top 2.7 million Terabytes in 2017, representing a 80.4-percent CAGR from 2012.
