At the Feb. 17 Federal Communications Commission open meeting, commissioners will consider a Second Report and Order (R&O) to streamline reporting requirements for international phone traffic, significantly reducing overall filing burdens while ensuring collection of the data needed to protect consumers and competition in international markets; and an Order on Reconsideration that revises the Wireless Communications Services rules to facilitate use of 30 megahertz of spectrum for wireless broadband service while protecting Digital Audio Radio Satellite Service against harmful interference…Mark Lloyd, former Federal Communications Commission associate general counsel/chief diversity officer, will lead the Media Policy Initiative, part of the New America Foundation‘s Open Technology Institute. The Initiative formulates policy and regulatory reforms “to foster the development of a healthy media that satisfies the needs of democracy in the 21st century,” the group says. Lloyd is an affiliate professor/Public Policy at Georgetown University.
