Alcatel-Lucent will overhaul Telefónica’s network management systems, combining its network OSS into a single, global software platform. Alcatel-Lucent will help standardize both software and procedures for network management across Telefonica’s fixed and mobile networks to help improve response times for the resolution of network issues, and it will maintain the platform for several years…In a tender process completed in late 2011, Colombia’s Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications awarded the National Fiber Optic Project, part of the "Plan Vive Digital" program, to Grupo Salinas. As a result, group company Azteca Comunicaciones Colombia is set to deploy the country’s largest and most modern fiber optics networks. Azteca selected Ericsson as one of the network providers, and the two will deploy a suite of products to build out a 4G IP network infrastructure to deliver broadband services to more than 397 municipalities in Colombia via Wi-Fi and point-to-multipoint wireless access.
