Smart-energy platform provider Silver Spring Network says it’s connected more than one million homes and businesses in Australia. In partnership with CitiPower and Powercor Australia, Jemena and United Energy, Silver Spring Networks is providing the IPv6 networking platform, software and services to support the rollout of the State Government of Victoria’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) program. The platform supports distribution automation and outage notification systems, and it also will support demand-side management. Silver Spring – also used by Baltimore Gas & Electric, Florida Power & Light, Pacific Gas & Electric and Pepco Holdings – complies with the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target (VEET) criteria that enables in-home energy displays.
