Microsoft and Chinese IPTV provider PPTV signed a strategic partnership memorandum today to launch the PPTV Asia TV Networks (ATN) platform on Windows Azure. The deal has PPTV adopting Windows Azure as the core infrastructure platform to provide a cloud-based Internet TV solution; moving forward, it will work with Microsoft on online TV, a media service platform and a Content Delivery Network for its next generation domestic market needs…Huawei and Qualcomm completed a LTE FDD flash Circuit Switched Fallback (CSFB) voice call to UMTS using R9 protocol and Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon S4 processor, the MSM8960, during a series of optimization tests. The tests, based on the flash CSFB voice solution for the R9 protocol, resulted in lower call setup latency than that of the R8 protocol, the two say, and very close to that of a native UMTS voice call. The joint CSFB testing was part of an ongoing cooperation between Huawei and Qualcomm on interoperability testing and optimization involving GSM/UMTS/LTE TDD/FDD technologies.
