Concurrent has announced it is adding software upgrades to its MediaHawk Converged Video Solution to enable delivery of broadband to three screens for not only cable operators, but also for Internet networks, wireless operators, advertisers and content providers. Applications will include network DVR, personal content management and sharing, broadcast TV to Internet and wireless devices, and video social networking.

The company plans to "take the same platform, and through a software upgrade, deliver video to other devices," said Jim Brickmeier, VP and general manager of converged video for Concurrent.

Concurrent’s existing Everstream line of data collection and management software will be employed to measure viewer data on multiple screens.

"The industry sees video as a hardware function and thinks that the answer is a new box," said David King, CMO/CSO for Concurrent. "The boxes exist; what’s missing is the software."
