Charter Communications, which serves more than 5 million U.S. customers, has deployed 1 million Enhanced TV Binary Interchange Format (EBIF)-enabled digital set-top boxes in nearly all its communities utilizing Cisco set-top boxes.

Charter worked closely with Concurrent and FourthWall Media in the EBIF platform’s rollout and validation. FourthWall Media supplied its standards-based, I05-compliant EBIF platform and user agent, and Concurrent provided overall program management and back-end reporting technology.

“We’re pleased to have successfully deployed FourthWall’s EBIF platform to our customers with Cisco set-tops and to have achieved this important milestone," said Jim Heneghan, president, Charter Media, in a statement. ??Charter’s milestone is part of an industry-wide goal to bring application development and distribution for advanced advertising, t-commerce and interactivity enhancements on national cable networks to fruition.
