Our Take:

YouTube will live stream the next Democratic debate on NBC’s YouTube channel on January 17th, the companies announced this week. The moderator will be NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt. Similar to this week’s GOP debate, questions will be fielded from the platform and posed to the remaining Democratic candidates in the running. On Tuesday night, the GOP debate used questions from Facebook. Democratic debates have gotten far lower ratings than the Republican ones have, this article from The Verge points out. Just this week the GOP saw 18 million viewers tune in. We’ll see if bringing the Democrats to digital, for free, will up those numbers.

YouTube and NBC News are partnering up to live stream the next Democratic debate from South Carolina, scheduled for January 17th with NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt on moderator duty. The debate will run from 9PM to 11PM ET, and you’ll be able to watch it on NBC’s YouTube channel.
