Steve Krakauer
TheBlaze has hired Steve Krakauer as vp, digital content, for a September 9 start at the network. He’s charged with increasing TheBlaze’s presence across all digital media. Previously, he was a digital producer at CNN, where he led the social and digital content for its US TV programs, including managing the social media team. He joined CNN in 2010 as the digital producer of Piers Morgan Tonight and in 2011 was named senior digital producer for the network. Krakauer also worked as senior editor of Mediaite, a news blog about the media industry, and was editor at TVNewser. He was a page at NBCUniversal as well. Steve tells us he’s a huge Orioles fan. And in college, he wrote a book about his school called Syracuse University: Off the Record, one of a guidebook series on schools. Said the NY Times of the series, "This is the kind of information kids really want to know before they pick a college."
Mark Olsen
Fusion, the upcoming network from ABC and Univision for Latinos and Millennials, has announced its ad sales team. Mark Olsen will be vp for Fusion sales. He has worked on the ABC sales team for the past 13 years, on properties including SOAPnet, Daytime, Latenight, News and Primetime. He also worked at global ad agency BBDO as a network TV buyer. Mark loves to ski, especially in Stowe, VT. He’s also a lifelong NY Giants fan and is eagerly anticipating return of “Homeland.”
Noreen Iqbal
Some other Fusion new hires: Noreen Iqbal was named director, Fusion planning and pricing. She has worked with ABC and SOAPnet for a decade, in the sales and pricing and planning departments. Additionally, Jay Williams and Jose Castaneda were appointed account executives for Fusion sales. Noreen says she is passionate about traveling around the world, to locales throughout Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean and South America. But her preferred destination is Buenos Aires. Her favorite TV shows are “Mad Men” and “Modern Family.”
Heather McCallion and Leslie Brown
Atlantic Broadband has appointed Heather McCallion to the new position of vp, programming and Leslie Brown as svp and general counsel. McCallion is responsible for oversight of negotiations and compliance for the company’s video content. Her last position was vp, field sales and marketing for NBCU and she also held leadership roles at Starz and Disney.
Brown, who replaces veteran Atlantic Broadband employee Bartlett Leber, will lead the company’s legal, governmental and regulatory affairs. Before joining the company she was vp and deputy general counsel for fiber optic network services company Lightower Fiber Networks. She served as vp of law and public policy for Adelphia Cable’s Northeast Region as well.
