In the Wild: Spectrum Takes Over the Las Vegas Sphere

For one week, the most recognizable orb on the Las Vegas Strip got a makeover. From Sept. 16-22, Charter lit up the exterior of the Sphere with a glowing array of network nodes, Spectrum’s logo and the tagline “America’s Connectivity Company.” The takeover doubled as a not-so-subtle visual signal that Spectrum Day had arrived, marking the moment when over 11 million former Cox homes and businesses across 45 states became customers.
Markets like Vegas, New Orleans, Norfolk, Oklahoma City, Phoenix and San Diego have been seeing Spectrum stores, trucks and technician uniforms for the first time. Along with the Sphere activation, Charter had campaign spots featuring NASCAR driver Carson Hocevar and Twitch streamer SypherPK greeting new customers to a soundtrack from the band Anamanaguchi—all built around an inflatable “Hi!” to once again say hello to new customers.
With the ads, it helps to have a discount to offer. Sphere and NASCAR aside, Charter promoted internet plans with no data caps, a year of free Spectrum Mobile for eligible customers and a $1,000 savings guarantee for folks who bundle Spectrum internet with two mobile lines.
Although its Sphere run is over, Charter’s time in Vegas is just beginning. But for a “we just acquired your internet provider” announcement, it’s hard to beat a 366-foot-tall light show.
