Glashow—along with co-head Shelley Zimmerman—made Awesomeness a leader in Gen Z content. Since its acquisition by Viacom in 2018, Glashow has focused on integrating the company into the Viacom family while securing distribution deals for Awesomeness digital content, AwesomenessTV series and Awesomeness Films. She’s proud of Awesomeness’ reputation as a female-led organization, noting, “While opportunities for female leadership within the entertainment industry have been a top-line conversation in the news cycle lately, it’s always been important to us and a priority.

What specifically does your company do to support and elevate the women who work there?
As a company that is predominantly female-led, Awesomeness supports and elevates the women who work here by giving them role models and mentors that they can learn from. We show them that they have a road to growth and success and then give them a seat at the table to prove themselves. For example, we encourage our assistants to speak at meetings as it’s important to us that all levels of employees feel valued and heard. As a female leader, it’s extremely important that we make sure all of our employees feel supported and have the tools they need to grow and succeed.

Since being bought by Viacom last year, the opportunities for women have become even more profound. We have access to resources and employee programs, including mentorship. Our company can be mentors to other employees or they can become a mentee too. These types of opportunities are so important for women to learn more and feel valued at work.

What advice would you give your 13-year-old self?
Be true to yourself, and always be kind.

What changes, if any, has your company enacted since the dawning of the #MeToo movement, and what results have ensued?
At Awesomeness we’ve always taken pride in having a strong female executive team. While opportunities for female leadership within the entertainment industry have been a top-line conversation in the news cycle lately, it’s always been important to us and a priority. It’s inspiring to see people speak out to tell their truth, and we applaud their bravery. We aim to create an uplifting environment where voices are heard and our talented team is acknowledged for their accomplishments.
