Natalie Bastian

Bastian joined Tubi in April 2020—the same month it was acquired by FOX. The integration didn’t slow her down, though. In fact, she’s doubled her team of marketers, and their collective work led to the company’s Top 20 ranking in Morning Consult’s “Fastest Growing Brands of 2020.” In January, Bastian oversaw the launch of Tubi’s first-ever audience report, which highlights Tubi’s young, diverse audience in harder-to-reach markets. She also led the launch of Tubi’s first national brand campaign, which was anchored by “Free Like Tubi Week,” a week of promotions tied to consumer giveaways. Bastian believes men and women alike can learn something from Jen Sincero’s book “You Are a Badass.” One of her key learnings: “You have the power to work as much or as little as you want in life. Work can fulfill you, bring you joy and contribute to your balance, not take it over.”

Best advice for someone looking to re-enter the workforce after a hiatus?
Finding balance sometimes means volunteering to take a step back. In order to do your best work, you have to be your best self. If you didn’t choose to take a hiatus, illustrating how you spent your time is key to future employers. The right company/leadership would understand either scenario, and it all comes down to direct honesty and ensuring that culture and vision align when you put yourself back out there.

What one female empowerment book do you think every woman should read?
“You Are a Badass” by Jen Sincero. This isn’t just for female readers though, I’ve gifted this book to men and women of all ages going through a transformative time in life. But if you are looking for perspective and ways to reframe your thinking in your personal life, work, etc.—this book is a quick read and the insights can be applied across the spectrum. Key learnings for me included:

You have the power to control 99% of what happens in your life. That is freeing.

You have the power to work as much or as little as you want in life. Work can fulfill you, bring you joy and contribute to your balance, not take it over.

You have the power to say no and pivot your plan.
