Lara Richardson

With a clear vision and strong creative instincts, Richardson is redefining the way people see and understand Crown Media Family Networks and its myriad extensions since stepping into her role last December. She’s already streamlined and rebranded the marketing group, now known as Crown Global Brand Group, and restructured the various areas to improve efficiencies and processes. As Hallmark Channel heads into “Countdown to Christmas,” a number of Richardson’s high-profile and creative marketing executions will be on full display. Her suggestion for those seeking to re-enter the workforce? “Make sure you are up to speed with industry trends and latest news and then go out and reconnect.”

Best advice for someone looking to re-enter the workforce after a hiatus?
First and foremost, don’t minimize or make unnecessary excuses for yourself after returning from a workforce hiatus. There are life events, circumstances and many reasons that we must exit or enter the workforce. It is okay to take a life hiatus. Being authentic and owning your path exhibits confidence, well-roundedness and adjility—all great characteristics employers should be looking for. Make sure you are up to speed with industry trends and latest news and then go out and reconnect. Link back in with former colleagues, contacts and others. Do not be afraid to tell your story and let lots of folks know you are looking to re-enter the workforce.

What one female empowerment book do you think every woman should read?
It is impossible to name just one book that inspires female empowerment, so I won’t try. Instead I will suggest these four as must reads: Jane Fonda, “My Life So Far”; Anne Frank, “The Diary of a Young Girl”; Maya Angelou, “I know Why the Caged Bird Sings”; and Glennon Doyle, “Untamed.”
