Condista celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, and what a two decades it’s been. From a company of one—Fiterre—to a growing empire that employs 25, Condista continues to grow its primary areas of service in the pay TV market in the US and Latin America. Among recent accomplishments, Fiterre launched Condista Networks, which owns and distributes the Kids Central/Family Central dual-language (English/Spanish) children’s network. “Condista has always been a talent-driven company with the vision that all employees are equally important to the success of the business,” he says. “Case in point: Condista’s business cards do not have titles.”

What does your company/organization do to ensure all employees feel included?
Condista has always been a talent-driven company with the vision that all employees are equally important to the success of the business. Case in point: Condista’s business cards do not have titles.

How can diversity be better incorporated into the recruiting process?
Given the nature of Condista’s business (experts in Spanish language TV), we are focused on the minority community in our day to day business and the vast majority of our employees are minorities. In terms of recruitment, the world is continually becoming more and more diverse and inclusive and it is important that we hire people who have insight into how to reach that diverse population. Leading with that idea in mind will organically result in hiring a more diverse workforce that represents the diverse population of today.

Can you share a successful diversity program at your company or one you’ve observed at another company or organization?
As a member of the Kiwanis Club for more than 30 years, I can say first-hand that the organization is presentative of an amazing diversity program. The Kiwanis Club of Little Havana (Miami) was formed in 1975 and powers the famous Carnaval Miami https://carnavalmiami.com/. The Calle Ocho Festival (Carnival Miami) is considered the largest Hispanic festival in the country and is a platform for all shapes of art, music, fashion, cuisine, and sports, showcasing the amazing diversity that is Miami.
