Salke may be new to this list having joined Amazon in February, but the former NBC exec certainly isn’t new to television. The streaming service has chosen wisely in selecting her. Salke’s not just head of Amazon Studios—she’s also an Amazon member, having used the site regularly as a multitasking mother of three. Aided by COO Albert Cheng, film head Jason Ropell, and VP of content acquisition Brad Beale (all of whom report to Salke), her goal is to create must-see content that appeals to as wide an audience as possible. In Salke, Amazon has an executive who has an impressive contact list of stars and content creators—deals with Nicole Kidman and Jordan Peele are in place—and an approachable, genuine warmth that can be hard to find in show business.
