Ahn and his team have been moving the distribution needle at Univision, most recently with the September introduction of TUDNxtra. The package features hundreds of exclusive soccer matches for pay TV subs at no additional cost. Last year, Ahn & Co also worked out a partnership under which Univision 41 NY provides Altice USA’s hyperlocal News 12 stations with digital Spanish-language segment twice a day. Ahn is a member of Univision’s recently formed Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force, and he’s impressed by what industry associations are doing in the D&I space. “I’m always inspired by the work of the Emma Bowen Foundation, T. Howard Foundation, NAMIC and WICT. The work these organizations do to push forward diversity and inclusion at all levels of the cable, media and entertainment industry is truly invaluable,” he says.
The conversation about racial injustice in 2020 has been… long overdue. Simply put, there is more we all can and should be doing.

Which current shows (on linear and streaming) best embrace diversity?
While there is still a way to go, the industry has made strides over the past few years to diversify both show casts and storylines. For me, there is no better example of this than “Dulce Ambición.”
