Denice Hasty

Hasty helped lead a milestone year of innovation and growth. Among the initiatives she spearheaded, Comcast Business became the first cable MSO to market with an SD-WAN virtualized network function offering, deployed around a gig-ready, software-defined-networking platform named ActiveCore. Hasty also oversaw the release of a cellular-enabled, business continuity solution; multiple cloud-based application enhancements to the company’s VoiceEdge portfolio of communication and conferencing services; and the completion of Comcast’s DOCSIS 3.1 rollout. She cites Melinda Gates as an inspiration. “Her laser focus on health care is having a real impact on maternal death rates in third world countries by providing pregnant women access to safe and modernized health care facilities,” she says.

What’s a recent example of a step forward for women in the media industry?
I believe the Me Too movement has inspired real courage among women and men impacted by sexual harassment or hostile work environment to come forward, speak up and tell their stories. In addition, women in a leadership role advocating for other women is a very positive trend that will pay dividends for generations.

Who is an inspirational woman you admire, and why?
Melinda Gates. As co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, her laser focus on health care is having a real impact on maternal death rates in third world countries by providing pregnant women access to safe and modernized health care facilities. In addition, I admire her strong stance on sexism in the tech industry.

What’s been the most dramatic change in your sector of the business today vs. three years ago?
The shifts in customer expectations challenges traditional models of marketing, and increases the focus on customer understanding and perspective to deliver a differentiated customer experience. In response, we have been on a continuous journey to make Customer Experience our Best Product.
