As a leader of operations in one of Cox’s largest regions, Pope believes in formalized mentoring programs and considers them necessary employee/workforce development that truly deepens the “bench strength” of organizations. He also helped promote employee engagement in the 2017 Cox Charities campaign. Under his leadership Cox’s Southeast region saw a 20% increase in dollars raised and a 58% increase in year-over-year employee participation. “As a poor kid from Mississippi, I know firsthand how life-changing the right mentorship can be,” Pope says. “Throughout the years, I’ve moved from mentee to mentor and I’ve continued to benefit both personally and professionally. Through formal mentorship programs that embrace diversity, we can equip and guide the next generation to better understand and value differing backgrounds and perspectives.”
